Cybergun SIG 556

Yes...yes...another SIG replica. I can't get enough of them! This post is a work in progress since it is very new and still needs to broken in, so this specific post will be updated when there is a need to be updated.

The Unboxing
Pretty standard boxing. Not much else to say other than the high FPS due to chronoing with .12 gram bbs.
The entire package included two SIG style hicaps, a stick battery and a trickle charger, and of course, the gun itself. Otherwise the its pretty much standard packaging.
As you can see in the picture, the gun sight has a hood on it which is not accurate to the real SIG 556, so that hood will be coming off the next time I update this post. Also, the other inaccuracy is the bolt, it should be a different style rather than the 552 style.

The first thing I noticed was that the quality was surprisingly good despite it being a Cybergun product. The gun itself is pretty hefty with a lot of the weight in the frontal area. The hi-caps had a good feeling to them, more of a polymer texture rather than cheap plastic (this applies to the gun as well) and you get two that comes with a clip that binds the two mags together. There was a little bit of wobble in the magwell, so I added  a bit of adhesive velcro strip to make the fit a little bit tighter. I tested the gun with other brand of midcaps as well which included STAR, MAG, and a G&G hicap.

So from left to right, the SIG hicaps, Star EMag, MAG mag, G&G hicap.

The included SIG mag of course fit perfectly.

The STAR EMag has a good fit.

The MAG M4 Mag fits also.

However, the G&G Hicap does not fit with the magwell modification.

I was able to cut off the hood on the front sight using a dremel but the bolt remains at the moment no clear why on bringing it up to the real verson.

More to come....stay tuned....

TM SIG 553

So the first review will be my very first AEG, the TM SIG 552. I purchased this gun back before I officially started airsoft from Airsoft Outlet NW. At that time, AONW was mostly a glass store and Brad was the salesman.

Externals
The external on the original gun was made out of ABS plastic and had SIG markings all over the gun. with some parts of the gun metal such as barrel, the gasblock and the rear sight. Even though the gun was mostly made of ABS plastic, it had a rather sturdy feel to it. Fast forward a few months, and I was able to obtain a cheek rest and the rail mount for the SIG. The gun was coming together and looked awesome until a few more months down road and I was able to obtain the RIS system for the SIG...that pretty much costs as much as the gun itself. Once the rail kit was installed, the gun went from the SIG 552 to the 553. Fast forward about a year, and I upgraded the plastic body to a metal body. With that metal body, the external aspect of the gun was complete.
Internals
I decided not to mess around with the internals of the gun since it was rock solid because of the high standards of TM. The only issue is that the gearbox has plastic bushings rather than metal which has the possibility of failing, but as long as I don't upgrade any of the internal parts, I figure the stock gearbox will last for a long time.

Performance
Surprisingly for a gun that shoots around 280 FPS, it performs well. The hopup works great and easily reaches its effective range of 100t, but where the gun really shines is indoor or being highly mobile outdoors for a compactness and light weight. The only thing that bothers me is that the gun is limited in battery space and can be a pain to install.

Pros
Lightweight
Great Stock Internals
Unique
High ROF
Quiet when paired with a suppressor

Cons
Plastic bushings
Limited battery space
Short range
Midcap mags can be expensive

The beginning...

Welcome All!

This is just an introduction to the blog. The purpose of this blog is to review my equipment, discuss about different airsoft products, or just rant about random things. Also, this is to chronicle the many different guns that I own and modify since I go through so many different items. Just to warn ya, the first couple of entries will be SIG-related. Will have one entry per week.
